Google released Veo 3.1 Lite yesterday, their most cost-effective video generation model yet. It costs less than 50% of Veo 3.1 Fast but runs at the same speed. For developers and creators building apps that need a lot of video output, this changes the math completely.
What you get: text-to-video and image-to-video, 720p or 1080p, landscape (16:9) and portrait (9:16), clips at 8 seconds with pricing that scales by quality. It also generates native audio. Available now on the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. On April 7, Google is also cutting prices on Veo 3.1 Fast.

Runway Held Its First AI Summit in NYC
Runway hosted its inaugural AI Summit at The Glasshouse in NYC on March 31. One day event bringing together film studios, ad agencies, robotics labs, and enterprise teams to talk about how AI video is actually being used in production right now. Speakers included Paramount's CTO and Runway co-CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela.
The big news: Runway launched a $10 million venture fund to invest in early-stage companies building on top of its models. They also rolled out a Builders program giving startups free API credits. The message is clear: Runway isn't just building tools anymore, they're building an ecosystem.
